Dr. Jane Gabin

Jane S. Gabin is from New York City, where she was a first-generation college student. She has thirty years’ of experience in admissions reading, college counseling, and essay advising, and has unique insights in the field. She served as senior assistant director of undergraduate admissions at UNC-Chapel Hill for a decade, followed by 11 years in college counseling at private schools in and around New York. She has a Master’s degree in English, followed by a Ph.D.; she is a certified teacher of high school English. Dr. Gabin has published a number of books (including a novel) and has presented papers at academic conferences in the US and abroad, including several directed at college counselors. Her happiest moments occur when her students report a positive experience at their chosen college.
