Tim Poynton

Dr. Tim Poynton has been a school counselor, counselor educator, and researcher for 24 years. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he teaches college counseling and career counseling courses at the graduate level to current and future school counselors. He has also taught undergraduate students in a course titled “Work and Play: Counseling Skills for Life.” Dr. Poynton earned an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and an Ed.D. from Boston University. Dr. Poynton has published more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, books, and book chapters, and has delivered more than 100 presentations across the country on topics ranging from college choice and career development to research methods and assessment in school counseling.
